BELTANE WORKSHOP: Between Fire, Flowers & Fairies
Between Tea, Flowers, Fire, Fairies and Folklore
This workshop will be conducted in Portuguese.
A gathering at Story Owl to celebrate Beltane, the ancient Celtic festival that marks the height of spring and the beginning of the light half of the year. After the stillness of winter and the gentle awakening of spring, Beltane invites us to step fully into life — with more energy, presence and connection.
Among flowers, warm light and fresh drinks, we’ll explore the symbolism of this fire festival — a time of fertility, creation and the union of opposites. A moment in the year when, according to Celtic folklore, the veil between worlds grows thinner… and nature reveals its full vitality.
Over the course of around 2h30 hours, you’ll listen to ancient stories, create with your hands, engage your senses and take part in small rituals designed to help you open space for whatever is ready to grow and come alive within you.
What we'll do:
♦ Explore the symbolism of Beltane and the beginning of the light season
♦ Listen to fairy tales and Celtic folklore
♦ Write intuitively about what wants to live and grow within you
♦ Create your own Beltane botanical perfume
♦ Take part in a collective ritual inspired by the Maypole, with ribbons and movement
♦ Celebrate the energy of the season through a final moment of connection and presence.
What is included:
♦ Around 2h30 hours of immersive experience at Story Owl
♦ Welcome with a fresh drink or floral infusion
♦ Storytelling on Beltane, fire, fairies and Celtic folklore
♦ All materials to create your botanical perfume:
– base oil
– herbs, flowers and natural aromas
– glass bottle
– labels
♦ Guided writing exercise focused on energy, desire and expression
♦ Ribbon intention activity (symbolic Maypole), with step-by-step guidance
♦ Final collective Beltane ritual with movement, presence and sharing
♦ And of course, your perfume and your intention word to take home with you
Ambience:
This is not a workshop of deep introspection.
It is an invitation to movement, lightness and connection.
A space to create, feel and celebrate — without rush, but with presence.
If you feel ready to step into this new season with more energy, joy and openness to life, this gathering is for you. 🔥🌸🧚

Catarina Alves de Sousa is a writer, creative copywriter and co-founder of Story Owl, a bookshop–café dedicated to stories, readers and slow creativity. After years helping brands and people find the right words, she’s now building a space where books, conversation and imagination naturally spill into workshops, circles and cosy gatherings.
Since childhood, Catarina has had a quiet but enduring fascination with Celtic culture. Ireland and Scotland remain her touchstones: the landscapes, mythology and winter light of those places continue to shape how she reads, writes and pays attention to the world.
Now that a bookshop–café (a lifelong dream) is part of her daily rhythm, she has a home for the seasonal practices and literary inspirations that have accompanied her for years. In this Imbolc Workshop, Catarina brings together mythology, storytelling and gentle creative work to welcome the first light of the year, help participants identify the “seeds” they want to nurture, and step into the coming months with more clarity, purpose and imagination.
