An intimate session at Story Owl to mark Imbolc, the Celtic festival that celebrates the moment when winter begins to crack open and the light grows again—still timid, but persistent. Over the course of 2 hours, participants are welcomed with a warm drink, discover the symbolism of this seasonal celebration, and create their own Imbolc candle — a ritual object linked to clarity, focus and new beginnings.
We then move into a creative visionboard collage, where each person identifies and materialises their “seeds for spring”: small intentions, projects or gestures they wish to cultivate over the coming months. The workshop closes with a simple ritual of light, lighting the Imbolc candles and sharing a word for the new cycle.

If you’ve been longing for a gentler start to the year, aligned with natural cycles rather than frenetic resolutions, this is an invitation to slow down, choose a few seeds and give them a place.
Places are limited to keep the environment warm and intimate.
Catarina Alves de Sousa is a writer, creative copywriter and co-founder of Story Owl, a bookshop–café dedicated to stories, readers and slow creativity. After years helping brands and people find the right words, she’s now building a space where books, conversation and imagination naturally spill into workshops, circles and cosy gatherings.
Since childhood, Catarina has had a quiet but enduring fascination with Celtic culture. Ireland and Scotland remain her touchstones: the landscapes, mythology and winter light of those places continue to shape how she reads, writes and pays attention to the world.
Now that a bookshop–café (a lifelong dream) is part of her daily rhythm, she has a home for the seasonal practices and literary inspirations that have accompanied her for years. In this Imbolc Workshop, Catarina brings together mythology, storytelling and gentle creative work to welcome the first light of the year, help participants identify the “seeds” they want to nurture, and step into the coming months with more clarity, purpose and imagination.
