HALLOWEEN MOVIE NIGHT

Halloween has arrived early at Story Owl! With our Dark Academia atmosphere, the shop has already “dressed up” in ghosts and skeletons, and we’re kicking off a series of three Fridays dedicated to Halloween cinema.

We open the series with Sleepy Hollow (1999), directed by Tim Burton. In 1799, Constable Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is sent to the small village of Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of mysterious beheadings. A skeptic and devoted man of science, he sees his certainties shaken when the villagers tell him of a Headless Horseman who haunts the woods at night. Inspired by Washington Irving’s classic tale, the film is a gothic feast of fog, twisted trees and shadows, featuring Christina Ricci, Christopher Walken and a chilling score by Danny Elfman. It won the Oscar for Best Art Direction, and it’s easy to see why.

Low lights, candles lit, and the projector bringing this dark and enchantingly macabre story to life. An atmosphere designed to slow down and step into another reality, with comfort and intimacy.
