The Academiae Obscuriae Book Club invites you once again to step into the depths of Dark Academia — where literature meets the strange, the intellectual, and the unknown.
In our next meeting, we’ll dive into Piranesi, by Susanna Clarke.
In Piranesi, we follow a man who lives in an infinite House filled with statues, mist, and inner tides, which he records obsessively in his journals. Little by little, he discovers that the House hides secrets about the outside world and about who he really is – in a strange, atmospheric, and deeply hypnotic novel.
Led by Joana Bryant-Jorge, this session will explore the mirror-game between author and work, the feverish pursuit of meaning that is never fully surrendered, and the novel’s dense atmosphere — at once erudite and unsettling — that makes it an unforgettable experience for readers who love to think, question, and lose themselves in the deeper layers of fiction. An afternoon of intense conversation, coffee, and pages that linger long after the book is closed.
