When Anne Shirley arrives at Green Gables, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert discover that the orphanage has sent them a girl when they expected a boy. Anne’s imagination, quick temper and enthusiasm soon begin to change life on their farm.

L. M. Montgomery’s story follows the friendships, mistakes and discoveries through which Anne grows into her new home. This English-language Macmillan Collector’s Library hardback is a compact edition with an illustrated floral cover, distinct from the adapted Penguin Readers edition.
