The Academiae Obscuriae Book Club invites you to dive into the Dark Academia atmosphere, exploring classics — and beyond — that intertwine the gothic, the philosophical, and the contemporary. Through monthly gatherings at Story Owl, we will journey through works that raise questions of ethics, passion, power, and knowledge, all wrapped in a literary and mysterious aura.
The club will begin in October 2025 with the reading of Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley — the founding novel of gothic and science fiction, which continues to resonate with timeless relevance and depth. The sessions will be led by Joana Bryant-Jorge, who will guide conversations and reflections in an intimate setting, over cups of coffee and the sharing of ideas.
